FTM Faces

Stenton Mackenzie is a university researcher carrying out his PhD on FTM faces. He needs FTMs who will be participants in the study. He particularly wants to collect more faces in the UK.

The research is important because there is so little information in science and medicine about how testosterone works in FTM bodies. The project looks at the changes that take place as FTM faces masculinise. One of the aims of the research is to create a predictive model that will give pre-transition transmen some idea of what their faces will look like after taking testosterone.

Stenton needs from participants a good quality facial photograph of yourself from before you started taking testosterone and a scan of your face (which he collects with a portable laser). The laser scan is safe and takes about 20 minutes. You need to be an FTM who is at least 21 years of age or older and have been taking testosterone for 3 years or more. Stenton will take a current photograph of your face when he does the scan, you need to be clean shaven for this.

This project has been reviewed and approved by the Research Ethics Committee at the University of Dundee. Stephen Whittle and Jamison Green endorse it. Please look at his website for more details, including information about consent and anonymity (you can be completely anonymous as a participant).
